The Subaru Crosstrek is a capable SUV many Ankeny, and Ames drivers will love. Every year, Subaru enhances its models in some way, and this year is no exception. This year, a new trim joins the lineup, offering enhanced tech and a unique design. However, presumably due to supply chain hiccups the automotive industry faced, Subaru hasn’t added any other additional features.

The Crosstrek Special Edition

The new Special Edition for the Subaru Crosstrek, while called a trim, is more akin to an expensive appearance package. The Special Edition uses the Premium models design, and it’s 152-hp 2.0-liter engine and paints it in a brown hue, officially called Desert Khaki. Everything else remains the same.

Because the Special Edition utilizes the Premium’s design, it should be no surprise that this trim also comes with all the same equipment. The standard features include heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a drive mode with hill-descent control, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. Unlike the Premium model, which uses a 6.5-inch touchscreen, the Special Edition uses the eight-inch model available in the Premium’s optional package.

Besides offering a larger touchscreen and a unique paint color, the new Special Edition also features a red-and-black cloth upholstery. Residents of West Des Moines can find red contrast stitching appearing on multiple surfaces throughout the cabin, giving the interior a sleek look not found in other Subaru models.
