The Subaru Forester gets Redesigned for 2025

The Forester is a rugged SUV that offers drivers an SUV with a wagon-like body and great off-road performance. Now, for the new model year, Subaru is keeping the model's signature off-road features while updating its design. Along with a new look, the update will bring several new upgrades and additions that many will surely enjoy. If you'd like to learn more, continue reading or visit our Urbandale dealership.

What's New for 2025?

The new fully redesigned Subaru Forester is a big departure from previous generations. Gone is the wagon-like body, and in its place is a more modern SUV design with increased ground clearance. Other enhancements include a new electric power steering rack and a new foot-activated, hands-free power tailgate.

Design

The redesigned Forester not only has a new exterior design, but it also has an updated cabin. There's a new panoramic moonroof that adds more light to the cabin. Meanwhile, the leather-wrapped gear selector and heated-and-ventilated front seats in the mid-tier trims offer a more refined driving experience.

Along with an altered cabin, the new update brought changes to the Foresters cargo area. Behind the rear seats, there are 28 cubic feet of space, and by folding the seats down, the area can be expanded to an impressive 74.4 cubic feet.

Performance

Even with the new update, the Foresters' powertrain remains unchanged. Under the hood, a 2.5-liter flat-four cylinder attached to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive is still standard. However, Ames shoppers find that the engine's output has been slightly altered. Now, the powertrain outputs 180 horsepower and 178 lbs. of torque, instead of previous generations that output 182 horsepower and 176 lbs.-torque.

The slight change in performance is said to give the Forester more initial acceleration, allowing for better travel over hills and rougher terrain.

Fuel Economy

The fuel economy of the Forester remains unchanged, even with the slight powertrain adjustments. West Des Moines drivers will still receive an estimated 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. However, in the Sport and Touring trims, these numbers will dip by one mpg in each category.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Driver Assistance

The redesign of the Forester isn't purely cosmetic, as there's new technology added to the model. The STARLINK Multimedia system has been upgraded, and it now runs on a standard dual seven-inch touchscreen. A larger 11.6-inch touchscreen is available in higher trims. Both monitors will feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but only the larger 11.6-inch screen has wireless functionality. Also, features like an integrated navigation system and a wireless charging pad will also be standard.

Safety

As an off-road SUV, the Subaru Forester is equipped to handle any driving situation. That's why Subaru has outfitted the vehicle with EyeSight, its suite of camera-based features. This bundle includes advanced driver-aids such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.

By upgrading to a higher trim like the Sport or Touring, Ankeny drivers can receive more advanced safety features such as blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, evasive steering assistance, and a driver monitoring system.

Trims

The updated Subaru Forester no longer offers the Wilderness trim in its lineup. Now, only five trims are available. These include:

  • Base
  • Premium
  • Sport
  • Limited
  • Touring
