New Subaru Forester Wilderness For Sale in Des Moines, IA
Venture into the Unknown with the New Subaru Forester Wilderness by Your Side
When it comes to off-road SUVs, the Subaru Forester is a great option thanks to its rugged nature and various features. But for a true off-road experience, there isn't a better model than the Forester Wilderness. This off-road centric trim offers a higher ground clearance, a front skid plate, and an enhanced towing capacity. When you're journey takes you off the beaten path, there's no better to have by your side than the new Subaru Wilderness.
What's New with the Subaru Forester Wilderness?
This year, some changes are coming to the Forester Wilderness model. It will now have an updated chassis and feature a new updated exterior. Other than that, the Wilderness remains unchanged.
Design
Like most other Subaru SUVs, the Forester has the brand's classic wagon-like body on an SUV frame. Because of this, the Forester Wilderness has enhanced ground clearance to handle off-road travel better. This also results in the model having a good driving position, allowing for great outward visibility. As for the interior, drivers will find a nicely finished cabin with plenty of amenities like water-repellent faux leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel. There's also a generous cargo area that's spacious enough for 11 carry-on suitcases and up to 23 with the rear seats folded.
Performance
Installed in every Forester model, including the Wilderness, is a 2.5-liter flat-four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower and 178 lbs. of torque. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and all-wheel-drive are standard.
Unlike other Forester models, though, that offer a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, Ames drivers will find the Wilderness has increased towing strength and can haul up to 3,000 pounds. According to the EPA, every Forester has an estimated fuel economy of around 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
Technology
Within every Forester model is an infotainment system with Subaru's latest Starlink interface. An 11.6-inch touchscreen is standard on the Wilderness, and with it comes two USB ports in the front, while two more are optional for the back console. West Des Moines shoppers will also get Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and onboard Wi-Fi as standard, but the navigation system is optional.
Safety Features
To ensure you stay safe as you traverse the street or wilderness near Ankeny, Subaru has outfitted the Forester Wilderness with a slew of advanced driver-aids. These include LED fog lights, a front skid plate, and Subaru's EyeSight suite of camera-based driver-assistance features. Included in EyeSight are:
- Adaptive cruise control (maintains a driver-set distance between the Crosstrek and the car in front)
- Forward collision warning with automatic braking (warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios)
- Lane departure mitigation (warns you of a lane departure when a turn signal isn't used and can automatically steer to maintain lane position)
- Lane keeping assist (steers the Forester back into its lane if it begins to drift over the lane marker)
